SHAMPOO & CONDITIONERS || Color-Treated/ Color-Protection

Hey y'all,

I hope everyone is enjoying their week so far! I wanted to start a segment based on the different types of shampoos and conditioners that are on the currently on the market. Many customers and clients come into my salon and ask, "What is the best shampoo and conditioner?". I feel like people are too focused on looking for the best shampoos and conditioners  Today's post is dedicated to shampoos and conditioners for color-treated hair.

Recommendations:

• Redken Color Extend - Amazing formula that works for all hair types. Not only does it prolong the color, it also protects the hair from UV rays. The S&C are cranberry oil based to help prolong and maintain color vibrancy. The combination smell amazing!

• Redken Color Extend Magnetics - Very similar to Redken Color Extend line but the shampoo is sulfate-free, which will help preserve the color even more! I will be writing a separate post on sulfate-free shampoos, so stay tuned :)

• AG Color Savour - AG is one of the more natural hair care lines due to their salt, paba, parabens, and DEA free formula. The shampoo is sulfate free, which will help prolong the color for a longer period of time. If you are looking for a S&C that contains natural ingredients but do not want to break your bank, give these a shot!

• Pureology - Overall, the whole Pureology line is for color-treated hair, which is the main difference from any other hair-care line. Pureology also contains natural ingredients and is also sulfate and paraben free. The line is able to target certain areas such as hydration, repairing, volumizing, and smoothing, while protecting the vibrancy of the color. Whereas most of the other hair-care lines will only have one type of S&C that simply only targets "color-treated hair". The Pureology line is able to target more consumers due to their emphasis on serving more than one purpose when it comes to S&C. Pureology prices are on the higher side due to the quality of the S&C., but you will definitely get what you pay for!

BEAUTY REVIEW || Gerard Cosmetics Lipsticks

Welcome back to my blog! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far.

Today, I will be reviewing lipsticks from an online cosmetic company called “Gerard Cosmetics”. Many of you may be familiar with the brand if you watch YouTube beauty gurus. Gerard Cosmetics was introduced to me by the amazing and beautiful Jaclyn Hill, who is one of my favorite YouTubers! She is currently collaborated with the company to create her own line of makeup called the "Jaclyn Hill Collection", which consists of lipsticks and lip glosses. Gerard Cosmetics has recently collaborated with other YouTube beauty gurus such as Shannon Harris (Shaaanxo) - Candy Kiss Lip Gloss, Missy Lynn - Cocoa Bean Lip Gloss, as well as Sophia Chang (fashionista804) - Kimchi Doll Lipstick. It is amazing to see how the company has allowed people on YouTube to create their own lip color because they have made an impact in the makeup industry.

I decided to give these lipsticks a shot because I have heard such amazing things about them.

The packing is absolutely gorgeous, but you can easily see your fingerprints on the lipstick tube. The design of the tube is also exactly like MAC's lipsticks.

Here are the lipstick colors that I decided to get: Cherry Cordial, 1995, and Rodeo Drive.

1. Cherry Cordial

 

An absolute gorgeous vampy-red, which I am obsessed with during the fall and winter seasons. I know we're just getting into the summer season, but I cannot neglect my dark reds! I find this color to be quite similar to MAC's Media but this color has more brown undertones, whereas Media has more purple undertones. Cherry Cordial is a dark red with brown tones to it, which would be perfect for the cooler seasons. I am definitely excited to wear this color in the upcoming fall season!

2. 1995

 

"1995" was probably the most anticipated color that I wanted to try from Gerard Cosmetics. One day, I was watching Jaclyn Hill and I was so excited when she announced that she had created a lipstick inspired by Kylie Jenner. I was constantly looking for a nude-brown shade that would suit my skin tone because I fell in love with the trend. I immediately added "1995" to my cart because Jaclyn Hill wore so beautifully! I would say this shade is a "my lips but better" shade. I naturally have a brown-pink tone lip color, so this shade enhances them so well. I have not gotten the chance to wear this shade a ton because it is currently spring, but "1995" will definitely come in handy when summer passes, and the fall season arises. I would say this is the perfect brown-nude shade, so I would recommend it if you are wanting that Kylie Jenner lip color.


3. Rodeo Drive

 

I am the most impressed with this shade because I did not think I would love this shade so much. "Rodeo Drive" is a mauve-pink with cool undertones. I think it is perfect for the spring and summer seasons because it is adds a pop of color in my everyday makeup. I also got so many compliments at work from my co-workers when I first wore this shade. It is such a gorgeous shade that would work for so many skin tones. So would I recommend "Rodeo Drive"? I definitely would because I do not have anything like this color in my lip collection.

So that concludes my blog review on Gerard Cosmetics. I would love to add more lippies into my collection because I love the consistency of the lipsticks! They are so creamy and opaque, which I would consider to be a great quality of lipstick. There are also always coupon codes on YouTube, which will help save a ton of $$.

A Little About Me

Hey y’all,

I thought it would be best to share a little about me :)

I am a 20-year-old born and raised Vietnamese-Canadian. I recently graduated with a Social Work Diploma and I am hoping to continue my education in an undergraduate program in Social Work. I am excited to start my life as an aspiring social work practitioner, focusing in mental health.

I have always had a passion for makeup. Watching youtube beauty gurus in junior high and attempting to perfect my makeup application skills. I continue to love watching my favorite youtubers and vloggers, which has always inspired me to start my own blog or youtube channel.

I am also very interested in the hair industry and have gained a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge as a hair salon receptionist/sales associate in the last two and a half years. I absolutely love my job even though there are always crazy customers and clients. I enjoy communicating with others and sharing my thoughts on what I believe will work best for each person.

I sound like an absolute girly-girl, but I love going on hiking adventures with my family and friends. When I get the chance to head up to the mountains, I love exploring and climbing mountains because it is my number one stress-reliever. So hopefully I will be able to blog a little about my adventures.

Anywhere from my all-time-favorite hair goodies to my new makeup finds.
